At the beginning of June, the new Cartoon Network Climate Masters initiative is launching in the countries of Europe, the Middle East and Africa . Its purpose is to motivate children to take small actions that will ultimately affect the welfare of the planet. The most important activities of the campaign take place on an internet platform updated every day with new challenges. The WWF Foundation became the partner of the action.
Promotion of the small steps method
The Cartoon Network Climate Masters campaign is one of Cartoon Network ‘s main initiatives this year. It was established to educate children aged 6-12 about climate change. Its aim is to support young people in introducing pro-ecological habits in everyday life. The heart of the campaign is a website where participants will find challenges every day to motivate them to be active at home, at school and in local communities.
The progress of everyone participating in the campaign is recorded on a virtual map showing completed challenges. It shows how the youngest from different countries engage in the action and influence the welfare of the planet. By completing the tasks, participants earn rewards that enable them to nurture and grow their digital garden. There are also films about ecology available on the platform, as well as quizzes checking knowledge.
Climate warming is an extremely important issue for young generations and one of the fundamental problems. Sometimes, however, it is difficult to determine what steps are worth taking to effectively contribute to change. We are happy to provide our viewers with the tools to act. This is the most ambitious Cartoon Network campaign in the EMEA region. We want to encourage children to get involved and reassure them that it is not difficult. Every action, even a very simple one, matters – says Vanessa Brookman, Head of Kids WarnerMedia EMEA.
Cartoon Network campaign with the support of the WWF Foundation
The initiative is supported by WWF, one of the world’s largest conservation organizations. In cooperation with the Cartoon Network foundation, he has created interesting films that explain issues related to ecology in an uncomplicated way.
Children have a huge thirst for knowledge and are very committed to taking care of nature. At WWF, we are constantly inspired by young activists and the enthusiasm they show for the topic of environmental protection. As future guardians of our planet, young people should not only be interested in nature itself, but also understand the most pressing problems and how to solve them. That’s why we’re eager to join forces with Cartoon Network in a new, awareness-raising campaign. We hope it will be motivating for many children and their families – says Kate Norgrove, Executive Director of Advocacy & Campaigns from WWF UK.
Cartoon Network, in collaboration with CNN, produced a series of mini-interviews with young activists. The materials will appear on the action website and are to inspire new Climate Champions. The short films focus on initiatives taken by Cartoon Network fans who are already involved in activities in their surroundings.
“Cartoon Network Climate Masters” campaign in Poland
On the Polish market, the action is promoted in a 360-degree campaign: on Cartoon Network, on the website www.cartoonnetwork.pl and in a digital and PR campaign. Activities with influencers on platforms: TikTok, Instagram and Youtube have been planned.
In September, the action will have a new version addressed to educational institutions. Teachers of grades 1-3, who are interested in educating children in the field of environmental protection and care for the welfare of the planet, will be able to download free educational materials created by experts from the Center for Civic Education.
