When I first heard that the Mickey Mouse label decided to make remakes of the most desirable animations, I was outraged. As a fairy tale lover, I did not think it could be successful. After all, as a kid in the 90s, I grew up with Disney characters and interfering with such familiar animations was, in short, absurd. After all, Hakuna Matata performed by Krzysztof Tyniec and Emilian Kamiński is impossible to imitate, do not even try to say that it is otherwise!
Come on, I’ll show you the world
This year, Disney released three remakes from under its wings. Aladdin, Dumbo and the Lion King. This time we will focus on the former. What about the flying carpet fairy tale?
If, like me, you haven’t had time to watch Aladdin in the cinema, then nothing is lost! Thanks to Galapagos, you can catch up and start a movie in your own home, sitting on the couch, wrapped in a blanket, with a mug of hot chocolate in your hand. Is there anything more you can ask for this fall season?

let’s start from the beginning
Aladdin , directed by Guy Ritchie, premiered on the big screen on May 8, 2019 at the French cinema Le Grand Rex. Is there a person who has not watched the animated fairy tale? I regret it, but probably yes. So maybe briefly, for latecomers. Aladdinis one of the Disney hits that saw the light of day in 1992. A street robber, the title Aladdin, falls in love with a beautiful girl, Jasmine. The young woman turns out to be a princess who sneaked out of the palace in order to be able to enjoy the desired normal life for a while, away from protection and service. The thief, faithfully accompanied by his friend, the clever monkey Abu, is thrown into prison by Jafar – by far the darkest character in the story. Aladdin will be able to leave the prison if he finds a magic lamp in the Cave of Miracles in which a genie has been imprisoned, fulfilling his wishes. Will the young boy meet the condition of Jafar and see the princess again?
You have to find out for yourself when you enter the magical world of Agrabahu!

Give a jump!
Since we remembered the animation, let’s move to the acting version of the Disney blockbuster. O mom, I have not seen such a juicy and rich color palette on the screen for a long time. Computer effects are definitely top notch! Not exaggerated, not redrawn, literally perfect. The singing and dancing reminded me a bit of the world of Bollywood, and this is an Arabian-style story… but I must admit that this is the most beautiful Disney adaptation I have ever seen.

A wonderful world
As in every production of this type, the director faithfully followed the original, but also this time he decided to add something from himself. The viewer’s attention was focused on Princess Jasmine, the daughter of the Sultan. The young woman always knew what she wanted from life and wanted to follow her heart at all costs. In a world ruled only by men so far, she did not want to remain silent and hide her needs. On the contrary, she bravely walked on the ground, showing that a woman can, and should, also have her opinion, also on a political issue, on which the fate of the country depends. Her feelings are perfectly depicted in the song Speechless. Sincerely? My heart was stolen by the Polish version performed by Natalia Piotrowska, the vocalist of Studio Accantus.Ciary, ciary, ciary… The song is divided into two parts and I guarantee that if you listen to them right after you, it will become something really beautiful and amazing. And how did the movie Wonderful World, which is probably the most famous song from Aladdin ? The voices of Marcin Franc and Natalia Piotrowska perfectly penetrate each other. There is something real about this. While listening to the soundtrack, their performance allows the viewer to paint the world of Agrabah in their imagination, which is rarely the case. Of course, there are more songs in the movie, listen to them for yourself! The music could not be taken care of by anyone else but a real master of his profession, responsible for the greatest Disney hits – Alan Menken.

Arabian Night
I must admit that I have not watched movies in which Mena Massoud (Aladdin) or Naomi Scott played the role of Jasmine before. Thanks to this, traveling with them was something new and unique for me. I am enchanted by Naomi’s beauty and her acting and vocal talents. The producers knew what they were doing. The development of the princess’s story caught the viewer’s attention and was a bull’s eye. What about Aladdin? I don’t think I can imagine another actor in this role. I think that the character he created has stolen the heart of many women watching this movie!
Wait a minute, it’s not over yet! Perhaps the most anticipated character was the blue Genie, played by Will Smith himself. Before the premiere, this hero caused great emotions. It radiates authenticity and, above all, naturalness, it is definitely one of the gems of production. What unfortunately I can’t say about Jafar, I like villains, but this one didn’t appeal to me. I know the animated version of the film and I expected something different, stronger, I can say that I was very disappointed.

DVD version
I really wanted to see the promised bloopers from the movie, listen to interviews with actors or hear the deleted song. Unfortunately, the DVD version only includes the option of adding subtitles (Polish, Czech, Slovak, English for the deaf) or watching the production in another language (Polish dubbing, English, Czech, Slovak). If you fancy the flavors I mentioned above, go for the blu-ray version!
