Few animated films are as visually stunning as those found in Sony’s Spider-Verse franchise , and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse raises the bar even further when it premieres this summer. While the film contained plenty throughout its running time, it had many more omissions. For example, one concept that was left forgotten was the idea of a world where Spider-Man did not exist and was instead run by a group of the web’s arch-enemies: the Sinister Six.
Exploring the world of Earth-42. An early concept where I tried to depict a world without Spider-Man and where the Sinister 6 rule the city.
– concept artist Aymeric Kevin shared on Instagram shortly after the film’s release.
While the villainous group may eventually appear in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse , Sony has long wanted to produce a live-action film featuring the group. In the home release of Spider-Man: Far From Home , producer Amy Pascal teased a potential team of villains, dropping the Sinister Six by name.
These villains that we have in our universe now are characters from the Sinister Six. Something might happen to it.
Elsewhere, Pascal said she’s just waiting for former Daredevil writer Drew Goddard to agree to come on board the film before giving it the official green light.
I’m just waiting for Drew to be ready to direct the movie. I would do anything with Drew Goddard. I’m just waiting for him to tell me he wants it.
– Pascal said in an interview with Vanity Fair.
Miles Morales returns to the big screen with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse , now streaming after its June 2 premiere. Miles (Shamiek Moore) reunites with fellow heroes Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld) and Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson) for another web adventure, finding himself at odds with Spider-Society led by Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac ). Other new heroes include Spider-Woman Jessica Drew (Issa Rae), Spider-Punk (Daniel Kaluuya) and Pavitr Prabhakar (Karan Soni), while new villain Spot (Jason Schwartzman) also enters the fray. The sequel to Sony Pictures’ 2018 hit Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man : Across the Spider-Verse was directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson and written by the team of Chris Miller, Phil Lord and Dave Callah.
