The talented Dan Slott, along with Michael Allred and his wife Laura, have created a story full of incredible adventures about the Silver Surfer. Will the second and last volume about the unusual relationship between the Guardian of Cosmic Trails and the Earthling be equally interesting and surprising?
Space Casino
In the previous partThe Silver Surfer and Dawn Greenwood took on space pirates, Nightmare and even Galactus himself! They could count on the help of other superheroes, such as the Hulk and Doctor Strange, and even a few times the inhabitants of other planets gave them support. This amazing couple has discovered a lot of wonderful worlds, even a place with the best ice cream shop in the universe! There’s even more to it in the second part. Silver Surfer this time will use the help of Spider-man, as well as the Creature, with whom he will first have to face in a duel. Not only that, the Avengers will appear at some point! It is true that the protagonists will spend half of this fat volume on Earth, but they will also visit many unusual worlds. Among other things, they will go to an intergalactic casino. Can even a mighty hero like the Silver Surfer succeed in poker? And what if in a fit of madness he even pawns his board? But maybe it’s better than spending the rest of your life in the belly of a space whale? In addition, the heroes will also go on a journey through time. As if that wasn’t enough, the Eater of Worlds and the vengeful Zero Warrior will stand in their way again!
Silver Surfer vs The Thing
A lot happens in the pages of the second part. As soon as one threat is dealt with, another one emerges. After exploring the intriguing world, we are about to fly to another, equally unusual one. That’s why you can’t get away from this story. Admittedly, with breaks, but I read the whole thing in one day. On the one hand, it was such a good story that I would like to leave something for later, and on the other hand, it was so interesting that I ran out of patience to read it to the end! Thanks to this, apart from the captivating plot, there are also colorful characters and vivid relationships between the individual heroes. There are often funny and embarrassing scenes, for example during the first meeting between the protagonists and Alicja Masters. Anyway, Dawn finds out that there have been more women in Surfer’s life!
Ladybug and silverware
As with the first part, each frame attracts attention with its unusual colors. The universe is filled with so many colors that I can’t name half of them, while the individual designs of planets, worlds and alien life forms look simply phenomenal. Like a giant space whale filled with unusual germs and cute antibodies! I really liked the Allreds’ style of marriage. I thoroughly enjoyed reading every page. I have no major objections to the release. At the end, there are two alternative covers and a short but interesting text by the creators of this comic.
Is it worth going on a journey through time and space?
In my opinion, the adventures of the Silver Surfer are just a piece of solid history. I like that the theme of exploring the worlds, traveling around the universe dominates here. I have the impression that I am not reading a comic book about a superhero, but just a great, light comic book in science-fiction climates. I missed only unexpected and spectacular plot twists. Instead, we get the same thing that was already in the first volume, i.e. traveling around new worlds, fighting supervillains and guest appearances of other heroes. Ultimately, I sincerely recommend everyone to get to know the adventures of Silver Surfer and Dawn Greenwood, because everyone will find something for themselves here. The authors seamlessly move from comedy, through solid superhero takedowns and family dramas, to a moving conclusion.
