It has been known for some time that Liam Hemsworth will replace Henry Cavill in the third season of The Witcher . As could be expected, the news of the change was met with a large wave of opposition from the fans. Last month, a petition was even launched , which at the time of writing this news already has over 280,000 signatures. The petition is close to 300,000, making it one of the largest petitions ever on Change.org. The reason remains a mysterywhy Cavill and the show parted ways. The semi-official version is that it was a scheduling conflict (the actor is about to play Superman again). However, news surfaced that the reason was numerous friction and creative differences between Cavill and the crew of producers and writers. Anyway, we probably won’t see the actor in Netflix’s The Witcher after the third season. Liam Hemsworth will jump into his shoes. Although the Hunger Games actor is likely to cope with the new task, the audience’s love for Cavill and the bitterness caused by the alleged conflict behind the scenes may not allow Liam to gain applause. Apparently, there is only one acting Geralt.
After a few weeks of silence, people involved in the series began to speak out on this high-profile case. For example, this week, showrunner Lauren Hissrich commented on the situation and the reaction it caused. Also, she said a few words cd. Hemsworth’s engagement, expressing excitement and faith that this will be the beginning of something new.
I’m very excited for the viewers. I think this is a new chapter for us. I also think that new chapters bring new energy and that people will find things that they will love. So yes, personally I am very excited.

Actor Joey Batey, who played Dandelion, also spoke about Liam’s debut in the series:
I contacted [Liam] and said ‘Hello’. The strength and courage in him to come and join a program like this halfway through is unbelievable. I hope everyone sees his commitment where he has to step into those incredibly big boots right now. [Liam] dives headfirst into it and takes it very seriously, studying the character, training and so on.
It remains to be seen how Hemsworth will succeed in replacing Cavill as Geralt and how he will look with long, gray hair. The White Wolf is, after all, a difficult character to recreate from the characterization side. Either way, capturing the sympathy of fans who miss Cavill will certainly be a challenge for him.
