On Friday, during the panel on The Living Dead at Comic Con in San Diego, the trailer for the latest season 10 of the series was presented. This will be the first season in which we will not see Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln from the beginning of the series in 2010.
However, we will meet two new heroes: the whisperer Gamma, played by Thora Birch (an actress known, among others, from American Beauty and Ghost World ) and Virgil, played by Kevin Carroll (he played, for example, in Sacred Lies and Snowfall ). We also know that Negan, who spent the entire previous season in prison, will finally be released this season.
During the panel, Danai Gurira announced that this would be her last appearance as Michonne. Danai joined the show in season three as a mysterious zombie slayer with a katana. She made the decision to leave because of the new opportunities that her booming career gave her while working on the role of Okoye in Marvel films. Executive Producer Angela Kang is very positive about Danai’s acting and insists that Michonne’s departure will be taken as seriously as the death of Rick Grimes.
The premiere of the new season will take place on October 6 on the AMC channel.
AMC and Universal Pictures are planning a feature-length film about Rick Grimes , reprized by Andrew Lincoln. A completely separate story of the protagonist will be presented. Scott Gimple announced that we can even expect a trilogy.
