In the end, the rumors turned out to be true and yesterday, thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, we could find out that Ryan Reynolds is talking to Netflix for the role of Dirk - a character from the popular 80s arcade game Dragon's Liar .
There have been rumors of an attempt to create this adaptation for a long time. A few years ago, there was even a Kickstarter fundraiser, but the whole thing finally died down. Fortunately, now we can be sure that the acting version of the popular game will be created. And not with just anyone.
Roy Lee ( Lego: Adventure ), Don Bluth (worked on the original Dragon’s Lair ), Trevor Engelson ( Yours Forever ), Gary Goldman ( Absolute Memory ) and Jon Pomeroy ( Thumbelina ) will be responsible for the production . The script will be written by the Hageman brothers ( Lego: Adventure ). The main role will be played by none other than the aforementioned Ryan Reynolds – known, among others, for the role of Deadpool. We don’t know the details yet.
Gameplay in Dragon’s Lair is based solely on quick time events (QTE). It is actually an animated movie in which we have to quickly press the appropriate key to avoid the threat of a falling boulder or fall into the abyss. Our goal is to save Princess Daphne imprisoned in the fortress by the dragon.
The game premiered on slot machines in 1983, and later received a port for personal computers (1989), as well as refreshed versions for Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS.
