Following the success of the new version of “The Invisible Man” earlier this year, Universal is set to take the blow and bring another monster back to life. This time it was the iconic werewolf. Ryan Gosling will play the lead role in the film.
Variety was the first to inform about everything. The new werewolf is to be a reboot of the classic production from 1941. Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo will be responsible for the script for the film. For the time being, the film does not have a director, but among the candidates it is mentioned Cory Finley. Initially, Gosling himself considered working on both sides of the camera, but after a few talks he decided to limit himself to acting only in the film.
Universal’s last take on the werewolf character was in 2010. It was then that a production starring Benicio del Toro was released. Ratings for this image varied, but as a rule negative or average.
The company had a different plan to make a werewolf movie again. This time it was connected with the intention to create a universe of classic monsters, the so-called The Dark Universe. According to rumors, Dwayne Johnson was to play the main role there. Ultimately, this idea ended up in the trash. The dark universe never recovered from the disastrous Mummy of 2017.
