CD Projekt RED has been quite loud in the media recently. Not only has the company announced that its The Witcher series has surpassed 75 million units sold, but it has also revealed that  Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty , the upcoming DLC for the latest game, will officially launch at Summer Game Fest next month.

There were rumors within the company about alleged talks with Sony about the acquisition. This isn’t actually the first time this rumor has been leaked, but as always, it seems like it’s just a wish from Sony fans.

This latest rumor appears to have surfaced on several Discord servers, but a  CD Projekt Red PR representative  has made it clear that this is not the case. The exact words were “yes, we don’t have these discussions with Sony” in response to a tweet by YouTuber LastKnownMeal who, in their favor, also said the leaks weren’t real. It’s safe to assume that the PR rep wouldn’t be tweeting publicly if this rumor had any chance of being true.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a surprise if someone like Sony turned to CD Projekt Red. The creator of PlayStation is facing Microsoft, which is apparently on its way to acquiring Activision Blizzard. For its part, Sony acquired  Destiny developer Bungie last year, but adding a company like CD Projekt Red to the franchise would be pretty cool. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt exceeded 50 million copies sold in the last quarter.

As mentioned, the DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 should be released relatively soon. We don’t have an exact release date yet, but CD Projekt Red seems to be aiming for 2023. In fact, we may see a release date during the Summer Game Fest show. CD Projekt also has another The Witcher game in development , as well as a multiplayer game related to The Witcher. There will be a lot of CD Projekt games coming out over the next few years.
