“RoboCop: Rogue City” – the game will be only for adults?

It has been known for a long time that the Polish studio Teyon is working on a large title that is a game adaptation  of RoboCop . The latest news suggests that  RoboCop: Rogue City will not spare players brutal executions and bloody shootouts.

RoboCop: Rogue City will probably be sold under the PEGI 18 category, as indicated by the trailer. RoboCop fans who remember the brutal film prototype from 1987 are also counting on this . Also developers from Polish Teyon did not intend to hold back. Piotr Łatocha revealed in an interview with ComicBook that the crew was always targeting older audiences.

Łatocha gave an interview after the RoboCop: Rogue City gameplay demo  and admitted that Teyon (the creators of  Terminator: Resistance ) had plans from the beginning to release the game for an older audience, because any other “softer” category could piss off fans.

This was one of the first decisions we made when discussing a new  RoboCop game . Based on the first videos, we’re pretty sure we don’t want to be limited to a teen category or something like that. We knew that it would immediately piss off the fans if they found out that we made such concessions.

Of course, people tend to expect violence and brutality in a game like Rogue City. The trailer above also shows this clearly. A cyber cop doesn’t take sides with thugs, which often leads to bloody results. Łatocha emphasized that Teyon wants to show what he wants to show, without limiting himself to the risk of receiving a more rigorous category.

We definitely wanted to make a mature game, but most of all we wanted to bring this kind of violence from the movies without fighting the constraints. I don’t think we needed any special cuts. That’s good.

RoboCop: Rogue City is due out this September. The game will be available on the following platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
