Robbie Coltrane, Rubeus Hagrid’s impersonator, is dead

British PA Media reported that on Friday, October 14, the actor playing the beloved Hagrid from the Harry Potter series died .

The actor was born on March 30, 1950 in Scotland and died at Fort Valley Royal Hospital at the age of 72. His agent Belinda Wright said:

Robbie will likely be best remembered for the next decades as Hagrid. It’s a role that has brought joy to both kids and adults, encouraging fans to post a stream of letters for over 20 years.

She considered him a wonderful actor, deadly intelligent, eminently witty man. The actor graduated from Glasgow School of Art.

A breakthrough role in his career was Dr. Edward “Fitz” Fitzgerald, in the series Dr. Fitz (1993-1996). He won a BAFTA for Best Television Actor for her. Coltrane also appeared in the cult series about Bond, and these are two titles – GoldenEye and The World Is Not Enough . However, he will be best remembered as the gamekeeper from Hogwarts, appearing in all eight parts.
