The time has come to spend time with the family in the winter, rest after the year-long race and reflect on New Year’s resolutions (or at least that’s how it is at the moment of writing these words). Surely there will be at least one moment to laze on the couch, and this is a good time to enjoy reading. What interesting have the editors of “CD-Action” prepared for us?
Fiery circles are glaring at us from the cover, and no wonder, because in the latest issue we can read the first impressions of playing the part of the long-awaited Elden Ring . Even a small excerpt of the game shows that the Souls formula works great in the open world, and enriching it with unfettered exploration gives a lot of fun. We can also read about the latest work of Piranha Bytes Elex II , which cultivates the tradition of wooden gameplay when starting everything from scratch, as well as maintaining the atmosphere of its predecessor Darkest Dungeon II, although in many respects different from the original. However, these are not the only games we will have to wait for. As the time for summaries is still ahead of us, the editors have prepared for us a list of titles to appear in the coming year, which are worth waiting for. After a rather calm twelve months, we are facing a very intense period of high-profile premieres.
We start our reviews with large games that definitely disappointed our expectations. It is enough to mention that the latest Battlefield 2042 was without hesitation called the worst installment of the recognized series, the best element of which is the “portal” mode, consisting in playing with the previous parts, and since antiques are more popular than new, this is definitely something wrong. You cannot ignore Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition (it probably couldn’t get a longer name) divided into three separate reviews. Despite this description, you can see great similarities, because in all of them we will find praise for the new lighting and complaints about a really large number of errors served by Grove Street Games. Only one item out of the three fruits of greed surpassed Friday’s rating, though judging by the final paragraphs of the text, more due to what was remastered, not how. Even the Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl have followed in the footsteps of the big titles, also being a disappointment.
Of course, this does not mean that the year ends extremely poorly, although it is a pity that those who we expect the most are failing. It is worth taking a look at, for example, Mateusz Skutnik’s Slice of Sea preparation with relaxing gameplay, strange world and cute, hand-drawn graphics. Is doing great Mario Party Superstars , partying or playing collecting together all that was best in the past, not always successful scenes. You can always count on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim , which recently premiered. Again.
Journalism, as usual, does not disappoint, presenting us with quite interesting articles. We have here, for example, the continuation of the story of the Tomb Rider * series , this time showing how uninhibited corporate greed can destroy people and an extremely popular brand. It is also worth delving into the text about the passing of equipment and technology as well as the aging of products. Well, since it has already been mentioned about Skyrim , in this issue of the magazine you can read about the phenomenon of this game, its mods, memes and predecessors … Wait, was there no Skyrim once ?
