The iconic monster is back in Percy Jackson and the Olympians , produced by Disney +. As author Rick Riordan confirmed in his personal blog, the Minotaur will be the featured torturer in season one.

A week after the first pictures of Percy Jackson ‘s set in Aldergrove, Vancouver, showing the Hydra dummy emerged, Riordan wrote:

“I am back in the world of television and set off on another exciting production day. Today we can expect the Minotaur. “

Fans of Percy Jackson books will remember the limited but pivotal role of the Minotaur in the first installment of the series. After the title character barely escaped from his pre-algebra teacher, he and his mother and friend Grover were chased by the Minotaur. Poseidon’s son was able to safely get to the other side of the magical border that protected Camp Half-Blood from monsters. When they split up, the Minotaur managed to capture his mother. However, Sally Jackson disappeared into the golden light and became a hostage in the underworld of Hades. The mythical beast was absent from the next three books, but returns for a rematch in the climax of The Last Olympian .

The reactivation of Riordan’s best-selling novels has been underway for two months. Scenes were shot both outdoors and on the StageCraft virtual sound stage, designed by Industrial Light & Magic. The same technology was used to bring the landscapes to life in The Mandalorian and The Batman .

“With our modern, advanced Stage Craft production scene, we create landscapes so realistic you’ll never guess which scenes were taken on site or in the studio,” said Riordan.

Work on Percy Jackson is expected to end in January next year. The official release date is not yet known.
