Currently, Riordan and the series crew are focused on tweaking the first, eight-episode season . According to the information provided to TheWrap by the writer himself, the concept of translating popular books into a serial formula is as follows:
Let’s hope we can create one season per book. This gives us time to accurately portray entire stories, unlike in movies where we had to make a few cuts.
Riordan’s words sound convincing, considering that the average season of the series on the Disney + offer offers up to 6 hours of screening. This is about three times longer than, for example, in the 2010 film adaptation of Percy Jackson . However, clippings are not the only problem faced by book adaptations. Added to this are the issues of rushing filmmakers through their studies and forcing them to use questionable half-measures in the construction of the script. Percy’s example is seen in Sea of Monsters (2013), where Kronos’ rebirth process was drastically shortened. What’s more, apparently in the third (canceled) title of the series, it was planned to almost completely omit the plot of the Curse of the Titans in favor of the fourthBattles in the Labyrinth .

Walker Scobell, who portrayed Percy in the upcoming series, made a similar assessment of those productions:
I like them as movies, but not as Percy Jackson movies .
Scobell takes over from Logan Lerman, who appeared as Percy in the film adaptations. On screen, Scobell will be joined by Leah Jeffries (Annabeth Chase) and Aryan Simhadri (Grover Underwood). Although there is still a long way to go to the actual premiere of the series, Riordan himself seems to be very optimistic about the project.
