Season 7 of Rick and Morty is currently on track for its premiere, which should take place soon. However, it looks like the team behind the animated series is already working on Season 9!
Adult Swim’s accelerated schedule for the animated series has been well known since Rick and Morty was first extended for 70 episodes, leading up to the release of seasons 4 and 5. Immediately there was a promise that there would no longer be a long wait between new parts, as was the case with the first few batches of episodes in the early years.
According to an update from the Rick and Morty team (led by executive producer Steve Levy) at the Adult Swim On the Green 10th Anniversary Panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2023 weekend (as reported by @swimpedia on Twitter), it appears that not only is Rick and Morty Season 7 in the works, but Season 8 is now fully written, and as a result, work has begun on Season 9 – a new, a more efficient schedule that the Adult Swim series has adopted especially over the last few years .

Rick and Morty season 9 in production
As explained by Steve Levy during the Rick and Morty panel, part of season 9 was written during this event. While those behind the scenes have previously noted that development on season 8 began before the release of part 6, this is in line with the current schedule where the series has been gaining momentum since being renewed for a massive 70-episode order. This is probably also good news for fans who worry that behind-the-scenes changes would in any real way affect this order.
Following the lead of Rick and Morty series co-creator Justin Roiland Burnout, Adult Swim has revealed its continued commitment to continuing development on Season 7:
Adult Swim has ended its relationship with Justin Roiland. Rick and Morty will continue. A talented and dedicated team is hard at work on Season 7.
A release date for Rick and Morty season 7 has yet to be announced, but you can check out the first 6 seasons on Max and Hulu.
