Review of the game “Dobble Collector” – jubilee edition

Dobble editions can no longer be counted. There are versions for special occasions, with heroes from movies and comics, as well as a beach edition, printed on waterproof cards. This time, on the occasion of the jubilee, Asmodee – through Rebel – is releasing another unique box with the game in Poland.

 

The difference that we will see at first glance is the size of the can – it must be larger, because we will find two decks inside. We will not combine them, but each will provide us with a different experience.

In the Gilded deck, some symbols have a shiny border. The colors of the pictures are yellow-violet, which gives a sense of elegance and exclusivity. The theme is birthday (cake, candles, hats).

Halloween and Monsters is the theme of the second deck. On the cards we will find terrible characters and attributes, but the authors of the game remembered about the youngest, hence the aesthetics available to them was taken care of. An additional goodie here is the glow-in-the-dark, fluorescent coating.

In the rules and variants of the game, we will not find any changes introduced for this edition. It is always crucial to identify symbol pairs as quickly as possible. We train perceptiveness by taking and putting cards in the pile or deck of other players. An interesting variant is finding triples of symbols among 9 cards spread on the table.

Dobble in the jubilee edition is the next installment of the popular hit. Glow in the dark cards are difficult to use in practice – we need to light them up before the game. The manufacturer recommends spreading them for an hour under a light source, but it must be very strong to effectively activate the fluorescent layer. Not everyone has the right place at home to fit all the cards. While bright elements are well-lit, darker details and contours are harder to pick out. Of course, the deck can always be used to play during the day.

There is nothing wrong with the golden outlines in the Anniversary deck, but there could be more of them – less than a quarter of the symbols have them. The box also lacked rules that allow you to play with two decks at the same time. To sum up, buying the Dobble anniversary edition, we get two interesting decks to play in a convenient box. Only and so much.
