Universal decided to revive the 2004 movie. Van Helsing was the next step to the career of an Australian actor. Will the reboot also prove successful?
Hugh Jackman, an Australian actor, began his international career in 2000. It was then that he starred in the X-Men . The audience liked it so much that he appeared in subsequent parts of the franchise. Other big movies came along with popularity.
One of them was Van Helsing . The actor starred in this picture opposite Kate Beckinsale in 2004. Reviews weren’t quite good, but audiences were filling the cinema halls anyway. Unfortunately, nothing came of the possibly planned franchise and no further parts were created.
The title character is the vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, created and described by Bram Stoker in Dracula . The hunter goes to Transylvania along with the eccentric friar Carl. Both are tasked with protecting the last members of the Valerious family. Legend has it that only members of this family can defeat a vampire. There, Van Helsing meets Dracule and his beautiful but killer brides.
For the new film about the adventures of the brave slayer, Universal Pictures has decided to hire producer James Wan, responsible for, among others, for Aquaman , and for director Julius Avery (who has been nominated for the Palme d’Or and the film Operation Overlord ).
With such a cast, production has a good chance of success. Who do you think could play the lead role?
