Renfield is an upcoming American comedy-horror movie directed by Chris McKay from a screenplay by Ryan Ridley and based on an original idea by Robert Kirkman. The film focuses on the story of Count Dracula’s humble servant who is regularly tortured and humiliated by his master. However, the title character finally decides to oppose the bloodthirsty vampire. He is encouraged to end his cooperation with the vampire by, among other things, policewoman, Rebecca Quincy, with whom the title character has a crush. Renfield appeared in the novel Dracula, written by Bram Stoker in 1897. Originally, he was a demented, fanatically devoted servant and ward of Count Dracula. He helped the vampire get food in exchange for the insects he passionately devoured and the promise of immortality. The new Renfield will be closer to the character of Guillermo from Taika Waititi ‘s What We Do in the Shadows than to the book servant from Stoker’s novel.
The release date was revealed by Nicholas Hoult himself. In the United States, it is scheduled for April 7, 2023, while in the world, including Poland, on April 14, 2023.
In addition to Nicholas Cage and Nicholas Hoult, the production will also star, among others, Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz, Adrian Martinez or Shohreh Aghdashloo.
