“Reminiscencja” – post-apocalyptic thriller now on Blu-ray and DVD!

The cinematic debut of Lisa Joy, director of the series Westworld . Oscar nominee Hugh Jackman and Dune star Rebecca Ferguson will take us to a future where a journey through lost memories becomes possible. The reminiscence is now available on DVD and Blu-ray!

Nick Bannister (Jackman), a private mind detective, navigates the dark, alluring world of the past, helping his clients access their lost memories. Living on the outskirts of sunken Miami, his life changes forever when he accepts a new client, Mae (Ferguson). The simple matter of lost and found things becomes a dangerous obsession. As Bannister struggles to uncover the truth behind Mae’s disappearance, he uncovers a brutal conspiracy and must ultimately answer the question: how far would you go to keep the ones you love?

My hero, Nick Bannister, is a war veteran who used modern technology during the war. We are in the near future. Miami is flooded, it looks like Venice. It is so hot in this changed climate that people live at night as it becomes unsafe to function during the day. My character runs a company that uses a technology called a memory machine, which during the war was used to enter people’s minds and find the truth about what happened – basically, it was used to interrogate them. Thanks to this machine it is possible to relive memories – says Hugh Jackman about his character.

From the very beginning, the actor was fascinated by the script and the world created by the director Lisa Joy – a writer, producer and director who had a well-received series from HBO “Westworld”. Where did the idea for the fascinating script, taking the viewer into the future, come from?

When Joy found out about her grandfather’s death while pregnant, the memories began to come back. The vision of the end of one life and the birth of a new one has become a motive to reflect on the memories that a person accumulates throughout his life.

Some of the most amazing moments of life are stuck in our heads, these are the stories we keep coming back to that make life worth living. Sometimes these stories aren’t shared with anyone else, so when you leave, they go with you. I think we all become stories in the end. We connect for generations. I always had the thought in my head: “Try to make your actions good, make this world more joyful than you took out of it, ” says the director.

Joy knew exactly who she wanted to cast in her film – the role of Nick was created especially for Hugh Jackman. Jackman’s attention was primarily drawn to a surprising and intriguing scenario.

After reading the 20 pages of the script, I called my agent and said: I haven’t finished reading yet, but I’m going to make this movie for sure. I thought the world in the movie was very original. I believe that viewers go to the movies more and more often to see something they have not seen before. Dive into a world they don’t know. They want to go on a journey they don’t expect, and that’s what they get from Lisa Joy. Reminiscence has one of the best endings I have seen in the cinema recently, says the actor.

Action Reminiscences is set in the world of the future, destroyed by the climate catastrophe. To portray the futuristic sunken Miami in the film, Joy turned to her friends with whom she worked on Westworld such as Paul Cameron, Howard Cummings and Mark Yoshikawa for help. With the help of visual effects specialists, we managed to put the city under water, but it turned out that recording scenes in such conditions would not be easy. The crew recorded the scenes using the boat, which, according to Lisa Joy, was a lot of fun for them. By filming the scenes partly in real water, it was possible to achieve a very realistic effect that the director expected.
