According to the latest reports, Naughty Dog has more ambitious plans for a remake. The producer does not only want to adapt the title created for PlayStation 3 to the next-generation console so that it looks good and satisfies the eyes of today’s players. Instead, it is said to plan to make the most of the PS5’s capabilities.
So what does this mean in practice? Resignation from the standard image resolution enhancement and texture refinement in favor of adapting The Last of Us to the new engine used in The Last of Us: Part II. And maybe not only. PlayStation 5 offers features such as 3D sound and adaptive triggers – a technology that was not available on previous Sony consoles. It is likely that they will also be used in the remake to further increase the immersion of the game and take it to another level, which was unattainable in 2013.
However, what intrigues fans of the series even more is the question of possible story changes. From the information about the project so far, there is nothing that would indicate that Naughty Dog will decide to make any changes in the history. It seems more possible, but also uncertain, to add a few new elements that would not drastically affect the whole.
But we have to remember that Naughty Dog and Sony still haven’t officially announced the project – we know about it from an article by journalist Jason Schreier who shared this unexpected news in April this year. So we can wait for the confirmation of these reports, and treat some of the rumors with a pinch of salt.
