Middle-earth is still a hot topic among the major upcoming projects from Warner Bros., and now the first image of an animated prequel to The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim has arrived . More than twenty years after Peter Jackson brought JRR Tolkien’s world to the big screen, the series is undergoing some kind of resurgence. In September of this year, Amazon is set to release a prequel to the series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power , and recent reports indicate that there will be more designs set in this world.
The War of the Rohirrim was first mentioned last summer. New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Animation is producing and the director is Kenji Kamiyama. The title was set two hundred and fifty years before the action of The Lord of the Rings and focuses on the untold story of Helm’s Ravine, the mighty fortress shown in The Two Towers . The adventures of Helm Ironhand, the ninth king of Rohan, are described.
Work on The War of the Rohirrim is ongoing, but New Line and Warner Bros. Animation released the first image of the film to the public. It presents a dramatic fight during which the walls of Edoras, the capital of Rohan, are breached. The title is expected to be released on April 12, 2024.
