Reality show in times of oppression – review of the game “Ministry of Broadcast”

Hello! You are currently watching The Wall Show in which participants have to face various challenges in order to survive. In a moment, a certain red-haired gentleman will enter the arena late. Is she going to complete all stages without shoes? Stay with us to find out!

Clear inspiration

Ministry of Broadcast is one of those games where history plays a key role. Therefore, the less we know about it, the greater the pleasure of discovering the nuances of the plot on your own. Imagine the combination of The Truman Show and Orwell’s 1984 book with a lot of curses and a talking crow. Great importance was attached to not losing the irony of the situations taking place in the presented world. The narrative presents the player with moral dilemmas that force him to think after the fact. We also observe a change in the character we direct, which allows us to identify with it more. The events are grim and terrifying, which makes the message even more powerful. Finally, we also get an ending that is appropriate for this atmosphere.

Slightly annoying mechanics

The elements of the actual gameplay, unfortunately, do not match the history. Some platforming sequences require you to jump with almost mathematical precision. You get used to them, although some players find them too frustrating. Some stages require quick reactions and learning subsequent sequences of movements by trial and error. It is not difficult to make a mistake at the end of the game. Fortunately, the checkpoints have been arranged in such a way that you don’t have to repeat entire sequences from the beginning.

There are also quite a few puzzles in the game. Like the platform sections, they are quite a challenge. Solving them can provide satisfaction. Their diversity is a big advantage – I never once had the impression that I always do the same activities. The crates are moved at one point and the next one jumps on icy platforms while escaping from a furious and killer dog.

Gorgeous pixel art

The decision to present the events taking place at the Ministry of Broadcast in the form of pixel graphics could not be better. Thanks to it, while watching the unfolding scenes, one still has the impression of communing with something inhuman and terrifying. The scale and details of individual locations make a very positive impression. During important events, the game also features music that builds the right mood. Unfortunately, I have to admit that I didn’t remember it very much after finishing it. However, the sounds of the raven and the screams of the victims of the bloody reality show remained in my head.

Summary

The program at the Ministry of Broadcast is something that probably no one would want to experience in their life. At the same time, I am glad that I had the opportunity to be part of it. Due to the engaging and thought-provoking story and the challenging puzzles, I think it should interest a large audience. In the real flood of games, we can often miss something really valuable. May such a fate not befall the Ministry of Broadcast .
