Shooting for the film continuation of the series “Ranch” is to be launched soon. What about Kusy, played by Paweł Królikowski? We got to know Maciej Strzembosz’s voice on this matter. The producer of the film also revealed the outline of the plot.
The ranch is a comedy and drama TVP1 series that has enjoyed enormous popularity over the years. It had its premiere in 2006 and three years later, after the fourth series, its end was planned, but due to viewership – an average of 6.69 million viewers per season – the series returned to the screens with subsequent views from March 2011. The ranch lived to see ten seasons and gained a lot of fans. Based on the series, two novels Ranch (published in 2014) and Ranch 2 (published in 2014) were published by Andrzej Grembowicz (Robert Brutter) and Jerzy Niemczuk. In 2007, the feature-length Wilkowyje Ranch was released in cinemas . In 2020, it was planned to make another film based on the series entitled Ranch. Witches’ revenge. However, the project was abandoned after the death of Paweł Królikowski, who played the role of Kuse. The main reason was that the script of the film was largely based on this character.
According to Super Express , the production will start soon after all. Apparently, the actors are one step away from entering the set, and the decision to start shooting depends entirely on TVP. Additionally, Maciej Strzembosz, the producer of the film, revealed in an interview:
I can reveal that the action takes place after the victory of Kozioł, who ran for the office of president. Kozioł and his wife are now the most important first couple in the country. There is also the Kozioł’s inseparable companion, Czerepach. In the last episode, viewers could hear Kozioł announcing from the pulpit that, as the new president, he will be looking at everyone’s hands – those on the left, those on the right, and those in the middle, too. And it is in the cinematic version of Rancza 2 that he decides to implement this plan. But there is a snag – according to Czerepach it is ridiculous and can do more harm than good.
Some time ago, there were rumors that Robert Gonera would now play the role of Kuse. The manufacturer denies this:
I have a different plan, but so far I cannot reveal which one. Paweł was a great supporter of the continuation of Rancza and was one of the first, in 2017, to receive the script of Revenge of the Witches . He called me a lot and asked me when we got on the set. He was still healthy and full of strength then. Paweł himself repeated that in this industry there is no rule that there are no irreplaceable things.
Later in the interview regarding the plot of the series, the producer revealed:
The bench unexpectedly, by accident, comes up with a brilliant idea, how not to make money and earn money completely legally, and Grandma Herbalist – which will be surprising for some – has an account on Facebook where she is extremely active.
The producer also commented that the film should be made as a tribute to those who created the Ranch , who are no longer with us. As he emphasized, the continuation of the Ranch was Królikowski’s great dream.
When he first became seriously ill, three months later we were kicking off the final series where, according to the script, Lucy was in the States. The whole burden of the scenes rested on Paweł. After all, he also had other obligations. And he did it. Unfortunately, the talks about the continuation of the Ranch dragged on for so long that Paweł passed away … All the more, we believe that we should, as a tribute to those who created the Ranch , who already have them with us, make this film.
Apart from Paweł Królikowski, the following people left involved in the series: Leon Niemczyk playing Jan Japycz, Jeff Butcher playing Jerry, Lucy’s friend, and Robert Brutter – screenwriter of the series, film and two theater performances based on Rancza .
