Legendary and Warner Bros. released the first trailer for the Christmas Story, the sequel to the 1983 Christmas classic A Christmas Gift . Peter Billingsley – who played a cornered nine-year-old dreaming of Santa to give him a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model – returns to play the adult Ralphie Parker, narrator of the original film (voiced by author Jean Shepherd). The first footage to be seen below heralds a journey back to Cleveland Street when the sequel will be available November 17 on HBO Max.
Set in the 1970s, A Christmas Story Christmas follows an adult Ralph who, according to the official description, “returns home to Cleveland Street to provide his children with a magical Christmas, similar to the one he experienced growing up. Ralphie reconnects with his childhood friends, accepts the passing of his Old Man and sows seeds for the beginning of a beloved Christmas classic. ”
Warner Bros. He also revealed that the full A Christmas Story Christmas trailer will be released “soon”.
The 40-year sequel also returns from the original cast of The Christmas Gift : Ian Petrella as Ralphie’s younger brother Randy; RD Robb as Schwartz; Scott Schwartz as Flick and Zack Ward as Scut Farkus. Clay Kaytis is directing from a screenplay by Nick Schenk.
The new cast includes Erinn Hayes as Ralphie’s wife, Sandy Parker, River Drosche and Julianna Layne as their children, and Julie Hagerty as Ralphie’s mother, Mrs. Parker, replacing retired Melinda Dillon. In the 1983 original, Darren McGavin played the grumpy, lamp-loving old man Ralphie.
The cinematic sequel To Family came after the classic movie in 1994. Warner Home Video has produced another sequel, Christmas Tree Gift 2 , which was released on DVD in 2012.
Billingsley and his frequent collaborator Vince Vaughn, star and producer of Billingsley’s ” Paradise for Couples ” comedy , are producing through their Wild West Picture Show; Cale Boyter ( Dune ) and Jay Ashenfelter (Godzilla vs. Kong) oversee the work for Legendary.
