Sony shared new details about the next-generation console. Unfortunately, much information is still a mystery.

During the webcast, PlayStation 5 Chief Architect Mark Cerny presented the technical specification of the console. So we know that the hardware will rely on a processor from AMD, more specifically the eight-core Zen 2 (working on sixteen threads) with a maximum clock speed of 3.5 GHz. The power of the device is 10.28 teraflops. This is more than predicted, but less than the Xbox Series X (12 teraflops). At the same time, there will be support for the new ray tracing technology . The PS5 will also boast 16 gigabytes of Ram, which is twice as much as in the case of PS4. The GDDR6 standard was also chosen.

According to earlier information, the console will host a fast SSD drive. Now, however, we know its capacity – 825 GB. However, nothing will prevent you from using the slot for your own disk, or connecting the HDD memory via the USB port. We also know that the PS5 will receive a 4K UHD Blu-ray disc reader.

The topic of backward compatibility was also discussed. The new generation will not be fully hardware compatible with the current one, but Mark Cerny is promising support for the top 100 PS4 titles on release.

Unfortunately, we did not learn much during the presentation, apart from the technical parameters. Still an unknown issue is, among others the appearance of the console and rain, its price and exclusive titles.
