Premiere of a poster for a new film by Lech Majewski – “Valley of the Gods”

On March 27, the Polish-Hollywood production of Lech Majewski – “Valley of the Gods” will hit theaters. Starring the stars of world cinema: John Malkovich, Josh Hartnett, Berenice Marlohe, John Rhys-Davies and Keir Dullea.

 

Lech Majewski, the creator of such internationally recognized works of cinematography as: “The Mill and the Cross”, “Angelus”, “Garden of Earthly Delights”, “Wojaczek” again takes viewers on a journey into artistic sensations, provokes his vision of the world, stunning with audiovisual effects. “Valley of the Gods” goes beyond the traditional film image. The story of the gods hidden in the mountains, based on the legend of the Navajo tribe, hypnotizes with pictures that the director co-created with Paweł Tybora (“Onirica”) in Utah, USA, and music composed by Oscar® winner – Jan AP Kaczmarek.

– ” Valley of the Gods” is a fairy tale for adults. It is a Polish-American film based on an old legend, the Navajo Indian myth. It also tells about the richest man in the world. I was interested in what money can buy, where is the limit of their possibilities – says the director about his film.

Three narrative threads direct the viewer to the title Valley of the Gods and provoke their own interpretations. The first is the archaic legend of the Navajo Indians about gods enclosed in the rocks of the Valley of the Gods, full of rich symbolism and archetypes. The second is the story of the richest man in the world, Wes Tauros (John Malkovich), who, hit by a personal tragedy, hides from the world and appears only sporadically in public. The third plot is the story of the narrator, John Ecas (Josh Hartnett), a writer who struggles with a traumatic separation from his wife and a creative crisis. At that time, the Tauros company, exploiting uranium ore, takes over the Valley of the Gods, where it plans to dig tunnels in the sacred land. The peace of the Navajo ancestors is broken and the rocks give birth to the avenger.

I have been lucky in my life to be able to work with many great, creative directors in Europe and elsewhere, and Lech is one of such people – with a very special view of the world, endowed with a distinctive vision and imagination, “ said Malkovich about his participation in” Valley of the Gods ” . And Keir Dullea, the main character of the legendary 2001 A Space Odyssey, added: “Without a shadow of a doubt, Lech is the most interesting film director since Stanley Kubrick.”

The film was shot not only in Valley of the Gods, Utah in the United States, but also in Wrocław, as well as in castles and palaces in southern Poland. The costumes for the film were created by Ewa Kochańska. The director also invited the famous designer Eva Minge and Polish brands – Pako Lorente and Kazar to collaborate. “Valley of the Gods” will hit theaters on March 27.
