12:00 – Bartosz Stuła – Post-apocalyptic threat in American comics
Post-apocalypse is a term that has long been associated with fantasy, and has recently revived due to a new Cold War tension . In his lecture, Bartek Stuła will present how the atomic threat that can lead to a post-apocalyptic situation is perceived in selected comic book titles with Scrooge McDuck or the heroes of DC and Marvel, and what consequences it had for the heroes of the cartoon world.
13:00 – Piotr Markiewicz – Freddy Krueger from Brazil, or who is Joe Coffin?
Joe Coffin (known in Poland as Józef Mogiła) is a mysterious figure for Europeans, but a cult figure for people from South and North America. Piotr Markiewicz will try to present the figure and the phenomenon of the figure. During his lecture, he will talk not only about the hero’s film history, dating back to the 1960s, but also about his comic incarnation presented in Skazaniecu 666 .
14:00 – Piotr Markiewicz and Bartłomiej Bielaś – Vampire: Masquerade or how to transfer an RPG to the world of comics
The origins of the role-playing game Vampire: Masquerade date back to the early 90s. For years, the title has been extremely popular and gaining new fans. Not so long ago, based on its plot, a comic of the same title was created. Was moving the RPG to comic book cards a good idea? Will the title appeal to fans of the series? Does it have a chance to attract new players to the World of Darkness? Bartłomiej Bielaś and Piotr Markiewicz will answer these and many other questions.
15:00 – Joanna Kaniewska – KRUK: music, horror, introspection
The comic book Kruk (org. The Crow ) and its 1994 film adaptation have already become cult in circles that like bizarre climates. As part of this lecture, we will try to examine how the space of horror and introspection of the main character is constructed in the work of James O’Barr. I would especially like to look at the influence of music and the gothic subculture associated with it, but I think our considerations won’t stop there!

Łukasz Łęcki – Adaptation or adoption? Post-apocalyptic orphanhood
When a world crashes, everyone has a survival instinct. Among the principles that hold the newly formed communities of survivors to the fore are bestial strength and distrust. Can the young generation, growing up amid degenerate values, maintain or rediscover the concept of the family ?

Friendship ended with BATMAN. Now NIGHTWING is my best friend.
Mainstream superhero always has a certain period of time when major titles become bored or overly exudate the epicness of events after which nothing will be the same. Then, unexpectedly, inconspicuous titles start to bring much more fun than the ones that were supposed to be the best . Nowadays, in DC Comics, such a change took place when Nightwing qualitatively dethroned Batman – or at least in our opinion. We’ll talk about why Tom Taylor’s work renews faith in mainstream DC and reminds you that superheroes can be cool.
12:30 – Remigiusz Różański – To the Führer’s face, or a superhero comic book during World War II
13:30 – Michał Olech – In the Ukrainian comic book evil Russia, mystical Ukraine and aliens have already happened – about Igor Baranko.
Igor Baranko is the most present Ukrainian author in Poland. In the context of Russian aggression, his Jihad comes to mind automatically – imperialist Russia of the future needs Ukraine to fulfill its great national vision. Politics and history are always strongly present in Lamb, but it is as versatile thematically as it is culturally – a lot of mysticism, philosophy and sensation in the Wild Fields, Ancient Egypt, Mongolian monks … And those aliens stealing Lenin’s mummy.
14:30 – Damian Nox Lesicki and Jacek Jaki Murawski – Ryjówka – all- cultural blog – Ryjówka-Man – comic book knowledge competition
Is that a mammal? Is it a plane? Not! This is Ryjówka-Man – the comic book contest in which we change the comic in every way. Test your comic knowledge and earn comic prizes. In the quiz, we will ask about Polish, American, Japanese and European, mainstream and independent comics. We’ll ask about everything.
15:30 – Julian Jeliński – How Stan Lee created the universe… DC!
Believe it if I tell you that Stan Lee was behind the creation of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and the rest of the most important heroes from the DC world? You won’t believe? That’s a surprise! This is all true, except that it did not happen in the 1930s and 1940s, but at the beginning of the 21st century. It was then that Stan co-created the Just Imagine series , reimagining the titans of the DC world while paying tribute to the creators of the original versions . Are you curious about the DC Universe created by the architect of the Marvel world? Did he manage to bring something new or was he just clumsily pacing between the characters like Galactus in the Micro-Versa? You will learn this from the lecture when we all just imagine …

The offset printing workshop is an opportunity to learn about the process of creating limited graphics that will be prepared on the occasion of our festival. Each workshop participant will come out with their own, freshly printed copy.

We will draw the adventure of the hero created on the basis of a favorite item from a schoolbag, a drawer or a toolbox. It can be Mr. Hammer, Mrs. Piła, Flamasterka, Temperator, or someone completely different. It all depends on the imagination of the participants!
Jakub Babczyński – Born in 1980, creator of comics, illustrations and animations from Gdańsk. Author of the original series Wyspa Szyszek , which he creates in cooperation with screenwriters Tomasz Kontny and Piotr Szulc. Lecturer in comics at the graphics departments of PJATK and WSB in Gdańsk. Author of numerous comic workshops. Co-organizer of the city project: Comics in the City, Miasto w Komiksie: Comics Guide to the Lower Town. Second prize winner at the MFKiG festival in Łódź in 2015 for the comic book Charlie Cudak .

Can decapitated heads speak? And the cut ones? The workshop program includes a presentation of the convex printing technique (linocut) and a practical introduction to it when creating a matrix for the design of your comic talking head and its printing.
Materials provided, but please bring your own T-shirts, bags, notebooks and other flat items on which to print your design as well.

14:00 – Creation of the world and populating it with characters
University Library in Poznań, Special Collections’ Workshop
During the workshops, the participants, together with Spell, will create a fantastic world and discuss how to make it interesting. Then everyone will individually think up and draw a character inhabiting the land we have created.
Gala
During the Gala, nominations for the Orient Men 2021 and the winner in the voting for the Best PFSK 2021 Zin will be announced.
Due to the limited number of places, admission to the Gala is only possible upon presentation of festival ID cards.

The Korean wave, apart from K-pop and dramas, also created a fashion for webtoons. But to what extent is the country depicted in the comics similar to the real one? Let’s tell a little about what problems plague modern South Korea and how they are presented in the comics we know.
13:00 – Łukasz Kaczmarek – Manga, Manhwa, Manhua – comics from Japan, Korea and China
The expansion of Asian culture affects many areas of life – Korean series, music and fashion are popular among the younger generation, and you could talk about Japan’s influence on art and culture for hours. What causes Japanese comics to outperform Western ones with sales figures? How are Korean comics different from Japanese ones? What role does China play in this landscape and will they manage to break into the pop culture mainstream beyond their own field? About the realities of the modern comic book market, uncomfortable problems with undefined chances of being solved, as well as the successes and challenges facing the industry.
14.00 – Anna Maria Puto – Japanese literature in the manga Bungō Stray Dogs (Stray Writers)
Imagine a comic book where Mickiewicz fights with Słowacki for super powers related to their most outstanding works! This is what Bungō Stray Dogs looks like for the Japanese. This manga gained popularity due to its engaging story, interesting characters and handsome boys, but it hides many references to Japanese literature from the turn of the 20th century. During the lecture, I will present the characters and their real counterparts and discover what our 2D heroes really looked like.
For several years, the comic book market in Poland has been experiencing a renaissance. Comics and graphic novels are gaining more and more fans. At the same time, streaming platforms bring them to the small screen in the form of movies and series. Are these two phenomena related to each other? Do comics owe their popularity to their adaptations? Or maybe it only works the other way around?
13:30 – Krzysztof Pielaszek – Politics and Comics: Was Comics really apolitical in the past?
In online (and probably not only) discussions, there is an argument every now and then But why push this policy into comics. It used to be gone and it was better . But do these words have any truth in them? Was comics ever an apolitical medium? And if not, how did this politicization of comic book creators manifest themselves in their works? What about propaganda in comics and how to recognize it? Let’s look at these phenomena together.

A collection of good tips, observations and tricks, the aftermath of over fifteen years of screenwriting. The biggest and smallest secrets of successful realizations and a few exercises to move your head.
Tomasz Kontny – comic book scriptwriter, designer and producer of computer games, author of theater performances. Awarded in competitions, including many times at the International Festival of Comics and Games in Łódź. He writes the series ” Division 7 ” about SBs solving paranormal puzzles in the realities of the People’s Republic of Poland. He works with both the independent scene and large publishing houses. He conducts script workshops and creative writing classes at universities in Krakow and Katowice.
