According to reports from The Disinsider, Karen Gillan is a candidate for the lead role in the reboot of the pirate series. The news is at least unconfirmed for now, but the same site recently was the first to aptly report on another upcoming Disney project – the acting version of Hercules . The same report also contained information that Gillan was not the only option for the new production. Actresses of various ethnic origins are also to be taken into account.
The news of the search for a woman to play the lead role in the reboot coincides with earlier rumors about the movie. The script by Craig Mazin and Ted Elliot is to focus on Redd, a female character who has also been part of one of the attractions in Disney parks for some time. Gillan would be great for this role.
Despite the declining quality of subsequent films with Johnny Depp, the Pirates of the Caribbean brand has always been highly profitable for the Mickey Mouse company.
