Over the years, many actors have played the role of the Joker. From incl. Cesar Romero (The Joker with a patterned mustache) in 1966, through the great Jack Nicholson in 1989, through the disturbing Heath Ledger (who won an Oscar posthumously for the role in 2009), and the intriguing Jared Leto in 2016. But it was Joaquin Phoenix who beat them all. Not only the Joker film received 11 Oscar nominations, and Phoenix – a statuette, but this time the Joker got the title role. His character is so eye-catching that the viewer stops munching on popcorn while sitting in the cinema.
In addition to being a good movie, it grossed over a billion dollars worldwide. This sum certainly convinced the producers that it is worth investing in sequels. It is rumored that one of the planned parts is to be completed by 2022 and the other by 2024. Joaquin Phoenix is of course to play the lead role, the director has been re-elected to Todd Philips, and one of the producers will be – here also a famous name – Bradley Cooper.
Rumor has it that Phoenics’ salary is expected to be $ 50 million, which would put him in Hollywood’s premier acting league. Surely this is a good reason to go back to a design that you thought was already a complete whole.
