Human characters in animal masks
When choosing the first comic book for a child, it is worth paying attention to the content of the story. In the proposal by Brigitte Luciani and Eve Tharlet, published in 2021 by Egmont, we meet animal heroes living in one burrow. Initially, as we can conclude after reading the first volume of the series, Mr. Borsuk and Mrs. Lisica , Borek, Szperaczek and Róża are not satisfied with such a solution, while their parents – who watch over the fire at home – try to create the best possible conditions for their children to live and develop. In the next volume of the series, entitled Messan unexpected guest appears in the family’s life. His arrival destroys the peace in the lives of the inhabitants of the mink. The animal family will have to face adversities, survive the moments of crisis and find in life what is most important – mutual respect and love.
The adventures of nice heroes
Step-siblings are constantly fighting with each other, throwing blunt epithets at each other (eg “black smoke!”, “Musty skunk!”, “Cow pie!”, “Striped screech!”). Despite the fact that mom and dad try to teach the youngest how to live in symbiosis by introducing universal rules in the mink (including maintaining order, eating or safety), the children still play, opposing the imposed form. The authors present the world of non-standard heroes in a very original way – the story is lined with humor, it tells about care, friendship and tolerance. The heroes, who will surely be liked by the youngest reader, experience fun adventures and learn how to face otherness, which should not divide us, but rather connect us.
My first comic
The reviewed volume of the series – Mr. Borsuk and Pani Lisica. Rozgardiasz – is a comic book intended for the youngest readers to read on their own or with their parents. The series initiated by Brigitte Luciani and Eve Tharlet recommends, inter alia, the daily “La Monde”, which calls Mr. Badger and Mrs. Lisica “a beautiful lesson of tolerance”. The comic was released in an enlarged format, and the hardcover makes it even more visually appealing. The youngest ones will surely like the beautiful illustrations and large speech bubbles, and the plot will also appeal to adults.
