One .. two .. Freddy is coming for you .. – Anniversary of the premiere

Nightmare on Elm Street can be safely called one of the most iconic horror films, which is still present in pop culture today. Today, November 9, this film is celebrating its premiere anniversary.

Although the film premiered in 1984, it is still referred to as a classic of the genre. There is no horror fan who does not know the character of Freddy Krueger – a psychopathic child killer who stalks a group of teenagers in his sleep. The film was so popular that shortly after its premiere, the creators began working on the continuation of production. In 2010, the premiere of the remake took place.

One of the main characters is fifteen-year-old Tina Gray, who has been haunted by nightmares for a long time. They show the figure of a man in a characteristic red and green sweater and an old hat. His face is completely disfigured by the burn scars, and instead of his fingers he wears a glove with four long blades. The dreams get more and more intense, until one day Tina wakes up with her shirt cut open. It soon turns out that not only she is tormented by the terrifying figure.

Wes Craven was responsible for directing and screenplaying the film, while Robert Shaye was responsible for the production. The cast featured Heather Langenkamp (Nancy Thompson), Ronee Blakley (Marge Thompson), Johnny Depp (Glen Lantz), Jsu Garcia (Rod Lane), Amanda Wyss (Tina Gray) and Robert Englund (Fred Krueger). The film earned 3 Saturn Award nominations, and in 2003 Freddy Krueger appeared on the list of the 100 Greatest Villains and Heroes of all time. The American Film Institute awarded him the 40th place at that time.
