Sony Pictures is to be behind the Hollywood version of Saitama’s adventures. The story will be adapted as a feature film. It is not known whether the production will be faithful to the source material.
The screenplay will be written by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. They have worked together on two recent blockbusters – Jumanji: The Next Level and Venom . The producers of the film are to be Avi and Ari Arad, for whom the subject of superheroes is no stranger. Their company Arad Productions has such titles as Spider-Man, Iron Man and X-Men in its portfolio .
One-Punch Man debuted in 2009 as web-comic. It told the story of Saitama, a mighty hero who can defeat any opponent with one blow. The contrast of the figure is enhanced by the appearance of an average bald man. The hero gained popularity after the debut of the first season of the animated series about his adventures.
At the moment, it is not known when the film could debut.
