The 9th issue of the fantastic LandsbergON magazine is ahead of us. This time, the inhabitants of Gorzów decided to delve into our history and create stories and graphics based on Slavic myths and legends. In addition, we have the opportunity to learn a bit more about the Valknut Hird organization.
Gods and demons
Our meeting with the Slavic issue of “LandsbergON” begins at the foot of the cathedral . This is the title of the short story by Joanna Łebkowska. It takes us to the center of the city, where strigoi, nocturnal and kikimoros enter the streets at night, and everything is looked after by Satan himself. A description straight from a horror movie, after which even Geralt of Rivia would probably be afraid of entering the local market. Still, it’s no less scary. We are attacked by himself Wąpierz from Gorzów, by Emil Zawadzki. Fortunately, there will be a daredevil who will try to end the (not) life of a dangerous bloodsucker. The editor-in-chief of the biennial, Mariusz Sobkowiak, will try to scare us in a slightly different way. In the Messengershe will try to bring us closer to a certain custom of the ancient peoples, which will surely make a hair on our head bristle and give us food for thought. At the end, we will also find the sixth part of the story about Wanda by Jakub Łukasik. Will the suspenseful horror story, which has already been published in a book, find its end this time? You have to check for yourself!
The only story that does not belong to the horror genre is Katarzyna Wieczorek ‘s Meeting under the Cosmic Tree . The author decided to make the Slavic gods, including Weles and Światowid, the heroes of her story. I must admit that she approached the subject in an interesting way and thus prompted the recipient to refer to our native mythology to learn a bit more about the characters.
The number is supplemented by an interview conducted by Kamil Kwiatkowski with Przemysław Prawucki, a representative of the Valknud Hird association. With We are Slavs , you will learn more about the team of reenactors of historical events from our country.
Not just words
The creators of the magazine maintain a pattern in which, apart from the stories, the issue also includes illustrations. This time we can admire the works of Anna Kała-Nadolna and the ones she created with a pencil , Gryf , Two Dragons , Hydrops and Mermaid . High school student Emi Nowak presents a painting with a woman and her milk adder. We can read some information about this amazing animal. The painter Anna Kowalczewska, in turn, decided to share the creatures she had invented – they would escape and the scarlet dragon. There is also a sensual Gorzowska Cyber Nimfaby Joachim Kudelski. So there is something to admire, because all the works, although so different from each other, can be enjoyed. Additionally, you will find here some photos of the Valknut Hird group in their Slavic costumes. Perhaps it is they who will encourage you to join the staging group.
From the fans
The NOVUM Association , which is responsible for issuing subsequent issues of “LandsbergON”, is starting to operate in other provinces. Their fantastic warehouses are already available in Wielkopolska and Opole. Although their activities are certainly time-consuming, they fulfill them excellently without neglecting any of the projects. The ninth issue of the Gorzów semi-annual is the best proof of this. The stories are well-chosen and engaging, and you can’t complain about the graphics. You can see the heart put in by fantasy lovers and the willingness to share the passion with other fans. And we praise it the most and look forward to more stories!
