Season 6 is expected to debut in 2021. Although there is no official release date yet, we already know that we will not see any more adventures of Kara Danvers. This is the second time the show has been canceled. Before that, however, it was on the American CBS, right after the first season. Then the station decided to give up the world of superheroes. So the series was transferred to The CW, which continued production for the next several years. Now, however, the series is definitely over. We learn about the cancellation of production from a joint statement by The CW, producers from Warner Bros TV and Berlanti Productions. The situation was also commented on by Melissa Benoist, who plays the role of the title character, adding a moving post on her Instagram.
Work on the set is expected to start later this month. However, Benoist, currently in an advanced state of pregnancy, will arrive late. Season 6 will have 20 episodes – more than the last one that was interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic. COVID-19 is also probably one of the factors influencing the decision to cancel the series, next to the drop in viewership.
