Promotional materials for the film “Hellriser” (2022)
David Bruckner, the director of the new Hellraiser , revealed some information about the production in an interview with Entertainment Weekly :
[The original “Hellraiser” – ed. ed.] was so instinctive and so influential. It was a movie that really scared me. He brought up topics that are so disturbing that I was almost afraid of the people who created him!
Bruckner also emphasized that viewers should not treat the upcoming film as a remake, but more as another building block to the Hellraiser universe :
This is not a remake. I just don’t think it’s possible to recreate the original “Hellraiser”. It’s too peculiar and I think it would be risky territory for creators, because how can it be surpassed? [Our film – editor’s note ed.] is a new story in the “Hellraiser” universe.
In the cast of the film, in addition to the previously mentioned Jamie Clayton, we will see such stars as: Odessa A’zion (in the role of the main character, struggling with addiction), Brandon Flynn, Goran Visnjic, Drew Starkey, Adam Faison, Aoife Hinds, Selina Lo, Hiam Abbass.
The premiere of the new Hellraiser on October 7 on the Hulu platform.
