No more Prince of Persia remakes?

Kadr z gry "Prince of Persia: Piaski Czasu Remake". Ubisoft

The remake of  Prince of Persia: Sands of Time does not look good so far due to numerous delays and a trailer of dubious quality. Now there’s more bad news for fans of the iconic series.

Ubisoft has no plans to make any more Prince of Persia remakes  Refreshed old games have become very popular over the last decade. A lot of cult games have already bitten the tooth of time, which can make them cumbersome to use or simply outdated. As a result, they become unattractive to players – both for those who want to return to their favorite game after years, and for those who play it for the first time. As a result, the developers realized that they could make quite a bit of money by ‘renovating’ their classics, giving them modern visuals, better controls, and even more elaborate storylines. Of course, there are better and worse remakes, but in general, the idea of refreshing the classics has brought many producers a lot of profits at a relatively low cost.

What’s with  the Sands of Time ?

Returning to the topic  of Prince of Persia , Ubisoft announced a remake of  Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time later in 2020 , but the project has not seen the light of day since then. The original release date was scheduled for 2021, but unfortunately there were complications, mainly due to the poor quality of the remake presented in the trailer (shown below). The project was thrown in the trash and started from scratch. To make matters worse, Ubisoft has confirmed that there are no plans to re-release the next installments of  Prince of Persia . The company has not disclosed any details. decision, but it can be assumed that problems and delays in connection with  the Sands of Timediscouraged the producer from following the blow. Perhaps, if by some miracle the remake of  Prince of Persia: Sands of Time turns out to be a hit, Ubisoft will change its plans. In the meantime, we have to wait for developments.

Although players can’t wait for the remakes  of Prince of Persia , it doesn’t mean that Ubisoft is completely idle. The company is currently working on a remake of the first  Splinter Cell game . For now, the title is in the early stages of development, so it is not known how far we are from the premiere. Hopefully we’ll get more details later this summer. Either way, Ubisoft has learned that a good remake requires more than high-resolution textures.
