Nicolas Cage will be the executive producer and lend his voice to the title character of the Amazon fantasy crime series “Highfire”. This is an adaptation of the novel by Eoin Colfer, author of, among others, “Artemis Fowl”.
Highfire is a vodka drinker, in love with Flashdance and Dancing with the Stars, a loner dragon who lives in the swamps of Louisiana. In the past, he managed shady business with a group of his fellows. By the way, he also changes his name to Vern to effectively cover his tracks. The monster’s life changes when a troublesome 15-year-old Squib, chased by a corrupt sheriff, stands in his way. The acting series will be based on the crime novel by Eoin Colfer, best known from the Artemis Fowl series . However, unlike the adventures of a genius kid, Highfire is aimed at adult audiences. The Guardian described Golfer’s novel as “Detective Linked to Swamp Thing.”
The screenplay is by Davey Holmes ( Get Shorty). Cage will also executive produce the series along with Holes. In addition, the production will hear the voices of stars such as Sean Connery, Benedict Cumberbatch or Rachel Weisz
