Nicolas Cage is set to play the legendary vampire in the film about Dracula’s helper, Renfield.
Based on the famous novel by Bram Stoker, Universal Pictures will focus on an often overlooked and neglected character – Dracula’s faithful servant, Renfield. The vampire is to be played by Nicolas Cage, and the title character by Nicholas Hoult.
In the original, Renfield is in an insane asylum because of his alleged delusions. In fact, the man is Dracula’s servant. Nothing is known officially about the plot of the new production, but the film will probably be placed in modern times.
Renfield will be directed by Chris McKay from a screenplay by Ryan Ridley and an original story by Robert Kirkman. Samantha Nisenboim will join the project as executive producer.
