The New Year’s audiovisual concert of music from the movie Heaven at Midnight is the world premiere of Alexandre Desplat’s suite performed by the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice under the baton of Radzimir Dębski – JIMEK.
Immediately after the premiere – in cooperation with the Copernicus Science Center – we will send the sound recording of the concert into space. “Is anyone out there?”
We do not know, but we are convinced that there is no void when there is a human on one side.

About the movie Heaven at Midnight :
After a mysterious catastrophe that has decimated the population of the entire planet, an Arctic scientist (George Clooney) tries to warn an astronaut (Felicity Jones) returning from a distant space travel and her team to the danger that awaits them on Earth. It turns out that even in the face of extinction, the human need for closeness can overcome the light years between them in order to connect the two survivors.
Directed by George Clooney and written by Mark L. Smith, the film is an adaptation of the critically acclaimed post-apocalyptic novel by Lily Brooks-Dalton Good Morning Midnight from 2016.

About music in the movie “Midnight Heaven”
The film’s soundscape was shaped by two-time Oscar-winning composer Alexandre Desplat, who created a soundtrack that is distinguished not only by its rich sound, but also by its length.
” Music is a character in this movie because a lot of it is wordless, ” argues Clooney. – Half of the movie is without dialogue. That is why music is a kind of dialogue. We needed music to play. We needed her to make it easier for us to understand what was going on in our heads.
– When I started talking to Alexander about it, he said, “I think you want me to write a concert,” laughs Clooney. – And I was like, “Yes, I want you to write a concert!” And that’s what he did. He understands emotions as well as other composers I know.
Desplat has created orchestral music for several other iconic productions starring Clooney, including Siriana and Fantastic Mr. Lisa .
