New version of “Something” on the way

The horror film “Something” by John Carpenter is a cult production of horror movies. Work on a new version of this story will begin soon, but it will be significantly different from the classic with Kurt Russell.

Something and the film that preceded it, Essence from Another World were based on the novel Who Goes There?  John W. Campbell Jr. However, this was not the complete version of the story that the author never published. Campbell had to shorten his novel for publication in Astounding Science Fiction . In 2018, John Betancourt announced the discovery of the original manuscript and immediately began fundraising on Kickstarter to publish it under the title Frozen Hell . It is on the basis of this book that a new film is to be made.

The aforementioned Betancourt confirmed this week that Universal Studios will collaborate with Blumhouse to shoot the picture. The first news about this appeared at the end of last week, when producer Alan Donnes wrote on Facebook about his participation in the project.

Something tells the story of a team working at a research station in Antarctica who are being stalked by a shape-shifting monster from space. So far, Campbell’s work has been the basis for the three films mentioned at the beginning, from 1951 and 1982, as well as a 2011 prequel.
