Half of the Dimension W series is already behind me. What will happen next? How will it end? Will the level be maintained or will it be even better? Let’s find out.
Volume 9: Someone enters the stage…
Ending wandering through his memories, Kyouma is convinced of the death of the younger prince – Lwai. The clash with KK begins and it quickly turns out that the gatherer has little chance against the former Grendel unit member. He is saved from death by Mira and Lwai, who is considered dead by Mabuchi.
We also learn from Prince Salva’s younger brother that his real body is in Africa. His older brother finally regains consciousness, so our entire group can continue searching for the link. The pace of action in volume nine slows down a bit, we are not witnessing constant fights and explosions, which does not mean boredom. We get answers to a few questions: we finally find out what really happened on Easter Island and why Mabuchi’s memories attract so much attention. Yuji Iwahara presents us in a conversation with several heroes the figure of the president of New Tesla Energy. I think most people only need one look at the characteristic glasses and the black turtleneck to guess who they are. The head of NTE quickly turns out to be a real villain (I think the people who lead large corporations already do), which only fuels curiosity about what will happen next. There is also a duel with a monster created by a mad scientist named Haruka Seameyer on the horizon.
Volume 10: A New Threat
Kyouma, tormented by memories of the death of his wife and teammates, decides to leave Easter Island. Mira tries to convince him that the escape will not solve anything, and only by discovering all the facts about the catastrophe and its role in it will allow him to find peace. Fortunately, Mabuchi lets himself be convinced and together with his partner they set off to the W Dimension. But to make it not too easy, Haruka is following their footsteps, also wanting to get the lost link called Genesis.
The tenth volume closes the theme of Easter Island, which, despite the fact that it ended well, left victims behind. Prince Salva reports to the NTE representative, Mabuchi summons the courage to visit his wife’s grave after a long time, and something strange happens with Mira’s link. They both slowly seem to be returning to their picking duties. However, this is not a sign that the author has no other, more exciting plans for them. The clone that we had previously seen somewhere in the background, acting under the orders of the Eudos organization, is at the fore. Will we sustain our appetite for more? In my opinion, definitely yes.
Tom 11: Ela
At the beginning of the next edition of “Dimension W” we observe the fate of Ela, the collector and the daughter of the late Loser. Little is known about the girl herself. As a child, she was at a research facility where she was brainwashed (thankfully she was unable to get rid of her character) and rigorous training. No wonder the girl ran away at the first opportunity. Despite the death of her father, Ela does not break down and wants to meet with Mabuchi. While trying to reach him, he finds Mira, who is kidnapped shortly after the conversation. Volume 11 adds another mysterious organization to the game, headed by a previously introduced clone. Drake, because that’s the name of the villain, is an extremely intelligent killing machine. Against him, even the combined forces of Kyouma, Mira and Ela may prove insufficient.
He admits that after the end of the Easter Island storyline, I had concerns about a “drought in drought”. However, my doubts were quickly dispelled.
Yuji Iwahara discovers more and more cards and I feel that he has more and more up his sleeve. The tension does not subside, and the characters seem fully motivated to face new challenges.
Volume 12: The World Is Ending ?!
Drake decides to leave Mira alive. At first glance, everything seems fine with Kyouma’s companion. However, usually the energetic android stops speaking and has no intention of informing its companions about what has happened between her and her captor. New Tesla Energy bosses are also having a hard time. When the body of one of them is discovered, they organize a meeting about it. Drake appears at the meeting, declaring that he is responsible for the death of their colleague, which was to show his determination to fulfill his plan. At the moment, the organization led by Drake seems to be far beyond the capabilities of both NTE and Mabuchi’s group.
However, the events described above are just the beginning. Volume 12 is full of dialogues and the rediscovery of subsequent cards. All the events presented can be summarized by the statement: if the appropriate steps are not taken, the world will be doomed. The stakes go up to impossible, and with what is about to happen, all the previous events may have turned out to be just an appetizer before the mighty main course.
The editions of all volumes maintain a similar level to their predecessors. We will still experience the beautiful colorful book jackets, and inside – in addition to observing the black and white detailed and, where appropriate, very dynamic images – we will see fully colored pages and extras with information about the universe. There are pages with too much paint, but this is not a major drawback. I have no objections to the translation.
Summary
After reading the next four volumes of Dimension W , I can definitely answer YES to the last question posed in the introduction! A lot is still going on, and in addition the stakes have grown to the level of the fight for the future of the whole world. I inevitably come to the end of this story and I cannot imagine volumes 13–16 failing me. But more on that later.
