In all three new frames we see scenes with Morpheus (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and Neo (Keanu Reeves). Two of them show fragments of sparring in the dojo, and the third shows the protagonists in a hideout. You can see all of them below.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II told a bit about his character. The actor said his Morpheus is fully aware of the Matrix’s history and the character’s previous incarnations. The new version of the mentor Neo is to constantly discover himself and mature for the role entrusted to him. This is supposed to be an important theme throughout the movie, not just for one character. Abdul-Mateen II also spoke about his predecessor – Laurens Fishburn. That incarnation of the character was supposed to completely fulfill its task. The script of the new movie is to provide many opportunities for another Morpheus to enter the game. The viewers will be presented with the principles of operation of the Matrix allowing for full manipulation of the world.
In The Matrix of Resurrection, in addition to Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, we will also see the returning Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith and Lambert Wilson. They will also be joined by Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra, Jonathan Groff, Toby Onwumere, Max Riemelt, Eréndira Ibarra, Andrew Caldwell, Brian J. Smith and Ellen Hollman. The directing was done by Lana Wachowski, who is also the co-author of the script.
The production is slated to hit theaters on December 17 this year.
