New material from behind the scenes of “Dune”

In the latest behind-the-scenes video of the adaptation of a Frank Herbert novel, the creators and cast members talk about make-up in the film. The main point is the Harkonnen family headed by the Baron.

Denis Villenueve and make-up specialist Donald Mowat talk about working on the appropriate representation of the characters. It took the most effort to transform the actors who played the Harkonnen. The creators wanted the antagonists to stand out in the film as much as possible, which is why it was decided to make a pale characterization and hide the hair on the faces and heads. Much more complicated was the preparation of the mighty Baron Harkonnen.

Although he is the main villain, the Baron is unlikely to be seen in too many scenes. In one of the interviews, the actor of this role – Stellan Skarsgard – revealed that he had been on the set for about 10 days. The actor also indicated that despite the short presence on the screen, his character will leave his mark on the story.

One of the most anticipated science fiction films of recent years has been postponed several times. This was mainly due to the coronavirus epidemic that forced restrictions on filmmakers and cinemas. But now Dune is on the home straight and will hit theaters on October 22nd.
