Greg Russo, the writer of this year’s Mortal Kombat movie reboot , has revealed that he will soon begin working on an adaptation of another popular video game. And although he did not reveal what the title might be, he informed fans that the production belongs to the genre of first-person shooters. And he himself will play a greater role than in the creation of Mortal Kombat .
The screenwriter shared on his Twitter account that he is preparing to conclude a new contract, under which he will be working on another video about a video game. As he wrote:
I can say with excitement that I am signing a contract to adapt one of the best first person shooters of all time. Not only to write it, but also to direct it!
Later in his speech, he also added that he is looking forward to the director’s role, and that more details about this project will be coming soon.
So the big question is what production Russo will do next. Although we will have to wait for the official clarification of this issue, we can already make assumptions about it.
Earlier this year, the developer admitted in one of his interviews that one of the video games he would be most interested in in the future is BioShock . He then called it “one of the best games ever made.” Another title might be Half-Life , the favorite production of film writer Mortal Kombat . But here a slight difficulty for him would be the fact that his main character is a silent character and does not express himself throughout history.
So it looks like we have to be patient and wait for more official reports. In the meantime, if you are curious about our opinion on the new Mortal Kombat , check out the movie review here.
