To begin with, let’s start with what is already available. Shortly after the presentation ended, the games were updated to version 1.2.0. It introduced, among other some changes to the boxes and fixed some bugs (including stability issues). What’s more interesting, however, has been added two brand new paradox Pokemon that can be caught in special Tera Raids.
Walking Wake and Iron Leaves will be available to catch until Sunday, March 12th. These are also creatures divided between versions – the first is exclusive to Scarlet , and the second to Violet . You can catch up to one per account. The appearance of these Pokemon has been hinted at since launch with Scarlet Book and Violet Book appearing frequently during gameplay.
Another novelty already available is the ability to pair the latest games with Pokemon GO . Thanks to this , we will be able to send postcards collected in mobile production to Scarlet and Violet , which will result in the appearance of new Vivillon forms previously unavailable on Switch. Linking titles will also reward you with additional Gimmighoul Coins and Super Potions. On the other hand, in GO you will be able to come across a wandering amateur of wealth, catch a creature and finally evolve.
The most important of all, however, is the announcement of story additions for the main installments of the series. Divided into two parts, the story of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero will take us on an adventure to two completely new regions. Five brand new Pokemon have also been revealed that will be able to join our team.
The first expansion, The Teal Mask , will allow players to visit the highly Japanese-inspired region of Kitakami. There we will find e.g. new legendary Pokemon – Ogerpon – three other creatures considered heroes by the locals (Okidogi, Munkidori and Fezandipiti) and more NPCs that will join us during our adventures. This content will debut this fall.
The second add-on titled The Indigo Disk will take the action to a completely new school – Blueberry Academy. It is a sister facility to those we know from the basic version of Scarlet and Violet . We get there as a guest as part of a student exchange. Blueberry Academy is much younger than the one in Paldea, and the main subjects that are taught there are related to Pokemon fights. This place is also very unusual because of its location – it was mostly built on the ocean floor. During your stay there, you will meet another legendary Pokemon, Terapagos. This turtle-like creature, like the new paradox Pokemon, has already appeared as a sketch in Scarlet Book and Violet Book. The Indigo Diskit is scheduled to be released in late 2023. Both add-ons are available for pre-order now on the Nintedo eShop.
As part of both additions, there will also be Pokemon known from previous generations, which were not yet available in the ninth. In total, there will be 230 well-known species to catch. The implementation of the Pokemon Home service for Scarlet and Violet has also been modestly announced . Used to transfer Pokemon between different games and store them, it is to be available at the turn of the first and second quarter of this year.
