The Netflix adaptation wasn’t directly based on any of the games. Instead, they tried to create something similar to a sequel or a spin-off to Resident Evil 5 . The series follows in the footsteps of Albert Wesker (previously believed to be dead) and his two daughters in New Raccoon City, just before another epidemic.

The Netflix version met with a mixed response from critics and negative reception from the rest of the audience, especially fans of the original. According to Deadline , Resident Evil was canceled after it failed to score any significant audience ratings. Well, Netflix has always been known to kill productions that don’t deliver the results you want and rarely give you a second chance, so it’s not that big of a surprise.
