It has been known since June that Ewan McGregor will voice the character of Cricket. Now Netflix has announced the full cast of the new screen adaptation of Pinocchio’s adventures. As it turns out, the movie will feature famous names.
Of the entire cast, only the lead actor, Gregory Mann, has not yet had a rich body of work. The rest are recognized and well-recognized actresses and actors in the world. Production director Guillermo del Toro has already had the opportunity to work with some of them on other projects. In addition to the aforementioned McGregor and Mann, the film also features David Bradley as Gepett, Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz, Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson and Burna Gorman.
Netflix also introduced the plot of the film a bit in a short description. The action will be set in Italy during the reign of Benito Mussolini. The painting will be kept in the musical convention. The production is to tell a story of love and disobedience. The main character tries to meet the expectations of his father.
The first mentions of the painting were made during an interview with del Toro in 2018. The film will be a stop-motion animation, which is the most time-consuming to prepare. The premiere is scheduled for 2021.
