Maggie (Lauren Cohan) has a reason to keep her enemy alive – he became an ally when her son Hershel goes missing.

He has my son. You are the key to getting it back.

Get a new look at TWD: Dead City in the trailer below.

It’s been years since we last saw Maggie and Negan, and now they must form an uneasy alliance to accomplish a dangerous mission. They travel to Manhattan Island, which has been isolated since the beginning of the walker apocalypse and has developed its own unique threats. While in town, Maggie and Negan meet New Yorkers, evade a sheriff with a troubled past, and pursue a notorious killer deep within a walker-infested city. It soon becomes clear that the traumas of their turbulent past may be as great a threat as the dangers of the present.

– this is how AMC describes the series

The new Walking Dead spin-off premieres  on AMC and AMC+ this summer, following the first half of Fear the Walking Dead’s two-part final season and ahead of Daryl’s (Norman Reedus) return in  The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon . Things heat up after  The Walking Dead series finale ended with Maggie unable to forgive Negan for killing Glenn (Steven Yeun) before they parted ways.

I think this spinoff will take place a few years after the Walking Dead finale and here’s the problem with those few years – we don’t see what happens to these characters

Morgan said in a recent interview

The last time we saw him, Negan was expecting his first child with his new wife Annie (Medina Senghore), but the couple decided to move from their Commonwealth community to Ohio.

When he was with our group [on The Walking Dead] there was another way to survive and he tried to adapt to those ways. I worry about what will happen in those two years away from our group, who will become and who will become him. So, when Maggie and he are together again, chances are Negan won’t be who we see when we leave him here in [The Walking Dead ]. I think there’s a pretty good chance he won’t be the guy he used to be because he’s adapting to his surroundings and things are fucking hard. He will go back to his old habits.

Morgan added.

Along with longtime   Walking Dead collaborators Cohan and Morgan, Dead City stars Gaius Charles ( Grey’s Anatomy ) as Sheriff Perlie Armstrong, Jonathan Higginbotham ( The Blacklist ) as Tommaso, Mahina Napoleon ( NCIS: Hawai’i ) as Ginny, Trey Santiago-Hudson ( New Amsterdam ) as Jano and Željko Ivanek ( Damages ) as Croat.

Showrunner Eli Jorné created and executive produced the series along with Cohan, Morgan, Brian Bockrath ( The Walking Dead: World Beyond ) and TWD Universe content director  Scott M. Gimpel ( The Walking Dead: Rick & Michonne ).

The Walking Dead : Dead City premieres  in June on AMC and AMC+.
