“My neighbor Totoro” – a new monument has been erected in Japan

My Neighbor Totoro is one of Studio Ghibli’s most iconic animations. Although more than 30 years have passed since the premiere of the fairy tale, it is still widely adored.

Later this year, Studio Ghibli plans to premiere its first computer-animated film, Earwig And The Witch. Despite the fact that the creators move with the times and are not afraid of new technologies, they prove the timelessness of their works at every step. My Neighbor Totoro  , directed by the famous Hayao miyazaki, is still today considered one of the greatest animations, not only in the East.

Although the premiere of the film took place in 1988, it is also appreciated today. Recently, Japan decided to pay tribute to Miyazaki by erecting a monument to the favorite characters from the cult animation in the city of Tokorozawa, located near Tokyo. Twitter users eagerly shared their impressions by sharing their photos.

The film tells the story of two girls who, together with their father, move to the countryside to be closer to their seriously ill mother. Soon after they move, they discover that the surrounding area is inhabited by extraordinary creatures who befriend their sisters. It is these creatures that the monument that was erected in Japan to commemorate the cult film presents.
