A bit about history
Mortal Kombat 1 will be the twelfth full-scale installment of the long series of fighting games dating back to 1992. Including all other spin-offs and side titles, MK 1 will be the twenty-eighth. Mortal Kombat, starting from its debut in 1992, sticks to its bloody convention and there are no significant changes in subsequent parts, apart from, of course, better graphics.
As for the remaining constants, Ed Boon will once again serve as creative director for Mortal Kombat 1 . Boon co-founded the MK series with John Tobias , however Tobias is no longer involved in the development of the franchise other than occasional consulting work.
However, the reputation of the brand has changed. In the 1990s, the extreme levels of violence and sexualization of content caused quite a storm in the media. However, that didn’t stop Mortal from becoming the best-selling fighting game of all time. Today, the series is still a box office hit in the genre, although it does not cause much controversy anymore, although it has retained the level of brutality and even increased it over the years, mainly thanks to more detailed graphics.
